K-12 Information and Research Skills
The school library media program’s instructional mission is to enable and encourage students to learn how to learn. The library media center is a learning laboratory where traditional as well as state of the art resources are used to provide instruction in thinking and to develop, reinforce and apply information skills. The successful school library media program produces students who are competent, independent learners able to appreciate and evaluate literature and the many forms of media. These students will be equipped to meet changing work environments, a world of ever increasing information, and a society in which decisions made by an informed populace are vital.
