Denver schools closed as police hunt 'armed and dangerous' girl obsessed with Columbine massacre

Denver schools closed as police hunt 'armed and dangerous' girl obsessed with Columbine massacreDenver-area public schools were closed onWednesday as authorities searched for a young Florida woman who flew to the city and bought a gun after becoming "infatuated" with the mass shooting atColumbineHigh School. The FBI said Sol Pais, 18, was"considered to be extremely dangerous" and "made threats to commit an act of violence in the Denver metropolitan area" just days before the 20th anniversary of the attack that killed 13 people. All schools in the Denver area were urged to tighten security because the threat was deemed "credible and general," said Patricia Billinger, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Public Safety.Columbineand more than 20 other schools outside Denver locked their doors for nearly three hours on Tuesday afternoon before Wednesday's complete closures were announced. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the FBI say Ms Pais travelled to Colorado from Miami on Monday night and bought a pump-action shotgun and ammunition. Denver Public Schools said that all facilities and programmes wouldbe closed Wednesday, and there wouldbe no afternoon activities or athletic competitions. The district said the decision to close campuses was in collaboration with other Denver metro-area school districts due to the ongoing safety concern. On Tuesday, some schools released their students after additional security was called in and canceled evening activities or moved them inside. "We always have heightened awareness close to high-profile anniversaries like this," Ms Billinger said. Authorities said Ms Pais was last seen nearColumbine- in the Jefferson County foothills outside Denver - wearing a black T-shirt, camouflage pants and black boots. They appealed for anyone seeing her to call an FBI tip line at 303 630-6227, and said she is too dangerous to be approached by civilians. The alert also said police who come into contact with her should detain her and evaluate her mental health. The FBI's Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force issued a notice Tuesday describing Pais as "infatuated with (the)Columbineschool shooting." Sheriff's spokesman Mike Taplin said the threats she made were general and not specific to any school. The Denver Post reported that a call to a phone number listed for Ms Pais' parents in Surfside, Florida, was interrupted by a man who identified himself as an FBI agent and said he was interviewing them. Surfside Police Sgt. Marian Cruz confirmed that her parents last saw her on Sunday and reported her missing on Monday. The Miami Herald and WTVJ are reporting that neighbours say the teenageris a senior at Miami Beach High School. The Associated Press left messages at two numbers listed for Ms Pais' relatives in Florida, while another number was disconnected. Two teenage gunmen attackedColumbineon April 20, 1999, killing 12 classmates and a teacher.

Lou Dobbs Wonders Who Ilhan Omar Represents Because It Isnt America

Lou Dobbs Wonders Who Ilhan Omar Represents Because It Isnt AmericaChip Somodevilla/GettyFox Business Network host Lou Dobbs continued right-wing medias weeklong outrage cycle over Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omars comment about 9/11 by accusing her on Wednesday night of not representing America. For days now, Fox opinion hosts and Republican politicians have taken aim at the Muslim-American lawmaker for remarks she made last month, claiming she minimized the 9/11 terror attacks when she said Muslim-Americans were treated as second-class citizens because some people did something. This resulted in President Trump tweeting out an inflammatory video targeting the freshman congresswomana video Omar says sparked new death threats against her.Speaking to Republican strategist Amy Tarkanian on Lou Dobbs Tonight, Dobbs blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for not stripping Omar of her committee assignments over her remarks. She wont remove Congresswoman Omar from the foreign relations committee because why? Dobbs wondered. Because she thinks so little of America?!The Trump-loving hostwho occasionally gets patched into Oval Office meetingswent on to question the Minnesota lawmakers loyalty to the United States.Who is she representing?! Dobbs exclaimed. Because it isnt America with her thoughts and her regrettable remarks about September 11th and 3,000 victims who lost their lives that day.Dobbs accusation that Omar doesnt represent America comes on the heels of Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade saying last week that you have to wonder if she is an American first, remarks he somewhat walked back later. And last month, during another Omar-related controversy, Fox News host Jeanine Pirro found herself suspended for two weeks and strongly condemned by the network for suggesting on air that Omar didnt believe in the Constitution because she wears a hijab. Notre-Dame's iconic rooster retrieved from rubble

Notre-Dame's iconic rooster retrieved from rubbleThe metal rooster which perched on the top of Notre-Dame's spire was found in the rubble on Tuesday and appears to have been spared the worst of the fire. It is dented but properly restorable, a Ministry of Culture spokesman said of the rooster, which contains three relics that may also have survived the blaze. As the rooster was partially crushed when it fell off the spire, the extent of the damage to its contents is unknown. Stored inside the rooster is one relic of St Denis, one of St Genevieve and one of the thorns from the crown that Jesus Christ wore at the Crucifixion. The rooster has served as a "spiritual lightning" rod for Notre-Dame, according to the cathedral's website. It came as the fund set up to help rebuild Notre-Dame is expected to pass one billion euros as Emmanuel Macron pledged to restore the fire-ravaged cathedral in five years. Donations from worshippers and wealthy French billionaires and corporations have seen hundreds of millions of euros raised since the cathedral was engulfed by flames on Monday. Contributors include Apple and magnates who own L'Oreal, Chanel and Dior, as well as Catholics and others from around the world.

McDonald's pulls Signature Crafted burgers, doubles down on Quarter PoundersMcDonald's Corp said it would remove costlier, premium burgers from its menus in favor of its more popular Quarter Pounders, shifting its focus to simpler and quickly-served burgers. The company said its new deluxe and bacon Quarter Pounders received good feedback and it would continue to focus on such items. "It (the removal) probably has more to do about the process of cooking the burger in McDonald's than it does what the consumer is saying about the food," said Howard Penney, a managing director at Hedgeye Risk Management.

Republican rescinds Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's invite to meet coal miners after it completely backfires

Republican rescinds Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's invite to meet coal miners after it completely backfiresA Republican lawmakers invitation for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to meet with coal miners in his home state of Kentucky backfired completely after the progressive Washington newcomer accepted without hesitation. Ms Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest woman ever elected to serve in the US House of Representatives, has served as a lightning rod across party lines for her Green New Deal resolution, which seeks to provide a comprehensive response to the global threat of climate change. Andy Barr, the Kentucky Republican who initially invited the 29-year-old congresswoman to his state, said at the time that local coal miners would tell her what the Green New Deal would mean for their families, their paychecks, while suggesting the resolution could destroy their industry. To his apparent surprise, the first-term Democrat from New York immediately accepted his invitation, saying she would be happy to meet the coal miners and noted her resolution provides pension payments for those who have worked in the mining industry. We want a just transition to make sure we are investing in jobs across those swaths of the country, she said in her response to Mr Barrs invitation. Suddenly, that invite appears to include some caveats. In order to accompany her on a trip to meet with local coal miners, Mr Barr demanded an apology from Ms Ocasio-Cortez towards Dan Crenshaw, a Texas Republican she has criticised for sharing a false tweet that claimed Ilhan Omar denied the attacks on September 11, 2001 were an act of terror. Ms Ocasio-Cortez has defended the Minnesota Democrat after conservatives and Donald Trump spread false and misleading information about her. On Wednesday, it did not appear she was about to back down from that position.Luckily, we still have open borders with Kentucky, Corbin Trent, a spokesperson for Ms Ocasio-Cortez, told The Courier-Journal. We dont need Congressman Barr to meet with coal miners and have a town hall, he added, though wed love his participation if we do. &> GOPs getting scared that up close, their constituents will realize Im fighting harder for their healthcare than their own Reps https://t.co/TVSafpJWEd&> &> Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) &> &> April 16, 2019As GQ Magazine reported Wednesday, Kentucky Republicans are now publicly voicing their opposition to Ms Ocasio-Cortez headed to the Bluegrass State. I think we need to be very prepared when we debate her on issues that we're having a hard time with, James Comer, a Kentucky Republican, told local news outlets, warning Republicans are making a mistake picking on her. Responding to his comments on Twitter, the lawmaker wrote, GOPs getting scared that up close, their constituents will realize Im fighting harder for their healthcare than their own Reps.
