ATTENTION PATRONS: SUMMER HOURS & NEW LIBRARY HOURS
  • The Main Library and the Vauxhall Branch will close on Saturdays for the Summer beginning Saturday, June 21, 2014.
  • The Library will reopen on Saturdays beginning Saturday, September 13, 2014. Starting September 13, the new Saturday hours at the Main Library and the Vauxhall Branch Library will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Effective Wednesday, May 21, 2014, the Main Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Main Library will be closed on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Vauxhall Branch will remain open on Wednesday evenings until 8 p.m.
  • ELEVATOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

  • As seen in past newsletters and flyers, library patrons who live in Union Township are now required to have a Union library card in order to sign-in to the computer system. You MUST have the library card with you to access the computers and printer.
  • Out-of-town residents will be asked to show identification indicating that they do not live in Union Township. Out-of-town patrons will then be issued a computer use card at the Circulation Desk.

  • UPL BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP 2014
  • The Union Public Library Book Discussion Group welcomes all who have read the book selection. ***NO MEETING IN AUGUST*** The group will next meet on THURSDAY, September 18, 2014 to discuss the book selection "MY BELOVED WORLD" by Sonia Sotomayor. Copies of this book will be available to pick up at the Reference Desk beginning August 25. For additional information call 908.851.5450, ext. 2.
  • CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT
  • The Children's Department of the Main Library has scheduled its programs for the month of September 2014. Please stop by and pick up a Calendar/Brochure or check out our Webpage. Click on the Kids page button for more information.
  • Summer Reading Club registration begins Monday, June 2nd both Main Library & Vauxhall Branch. Recording minutes in reading log begins Monday, June 9th. Reading club ends Friday, August 15th. The last day you can officially read for the Summer reading Club is Friday, August 15th. The last day you may record any minutes you read during June, July & August, up to and including Friday, August 15th in your Reading Logs is Saturday, September 13th. The last day you may receive Book Bucks for the minutes you have recorded in your Reading Log is Saturday, September 13th. The last day you may cash in your Book Bucks is Saturday, September 13th. Reading Certificates may be claimed anytime beginning Monday, September 15th. Please ask for one at the children's circulation desk.

  • LES MALAMUT ART GALLERY PRESENTS ...
  • The Les Malamut Art Gallery is open during regular library hours and is handicapped accessible. The exhibits are free and open to the public.
  • HOW TO MANAGE YOUR UNION PUBLIC LIBRARY ACCOUNT
  • Placing Holds and Renewals: Click "MY ACCOUNT". Enter your 14-digit Library Card number & your PIN. The "PIN" will be the last 4 digits of your phone number. You will have the opportunity to change your PIN after logging on. Click "SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST". The Patron Information screen will appear. The Patron Information Screen will provide: your name, patron ID, address, phone number, email address, patron card expiration date, and links for changing either your PIN or your email address. Some materials are not renewable. You may RENEW renewable items by scrolling to the bottom of the page where you will see: RENEW CHECKED ITEMS. To place a book on HOLD, go to the library catalog. Enter a book title in the title field. Bring up the catalog page of that book. If it is checked-out, place a checkmark in the circle beside the item(s) that you wish to place on HOLD. Then, click the PLACE HOLD REQUEST button. A template will appear that asks you to enter your patron ID (14-digit library card number), your PIN and the library branch where you want to pick-up item. After entering the required information, click SUBMIT REQUEST. The HOLD will register on your Patron Information page.
  • Note: You may not place "Holds" on media, such as videos and DVDs.
  • DELIVERY SERVICES TO HOME-BOUND UNION RESIDENTS
  • Do you know someone who is unable to visit the library due to a physical disability or other health-related condition? The library has a service to aid residents who love books and reading but are unable to get to the library on their own. To find out more about this service and eligibility or if you would like to volunteer to help with the program, please contact the Reference Dept, at 908.851.5450, ext. 2.
