This compendium of single-page, single-panel cat cartoons from Coverly’s (Dogs Are People, Too, 2015) nationally syndicated series Speed Bump will have pet lovers chuckling throughout the course of the book, which is broken up into sections like “Cat and Mouse Games” and “Big Cats,” ending on a hilarious “Cartoons without a Cat-egory” free-for-all. The entries cover of all kinds of cat behavior, often portraying the felines—sometimes anthropomorphized and sometimes not—as though they were human, partaking in conversations, hijinks, and more. Coverly also enlists a few cartoonist friends to provide drawings and stories of their own kitties, enriching the book with more personal tales. The artwork, mostly full color with a few black-and-white illustrations mixed in, renders a slew of cats, each one distinct and full of personality. An entertaining and enjoyable collection that can be read in one sitting or one panel at a time, perfect for readers who enjoy animal humor and behaviors.
