Through mentoring graduate students and achieving success in her own career, Morgan (public administration & nonprofit management, Univ. of Oklahoma; Harebrained: It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time) discovered that anyone (specifically women) can realize the life and career they seek by making one's desires clearly known and overcoming and quashing one's fears. She proposes five tactics by which to negotiate life: clarifying our needs, having choices, owning the terms of those choices, giving yourself a break, and getting out of your own way. Case studies of successful negotiations permeate the text, offering a solid road map for readers. VERDICT Great advice for self-reflection and having our personal and professional needs met. © Copyright 2018. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
