Search Tips

The Phillips Collection online catalog contains records for materials in the library collection and the archives. It includes entries for books, vertical files, archival finding aids, oral histories, and periodicals.

The catalog has two interfaces.

"Keyword browse" (LS2 PAC Library) is especially good at the early stages of research, for seeing all possible resources. It allows users to enter any keyword or keywords, then browse through the search results and refine searches with a wide variety of options. It also displays a word cloud with terms related to the original keyword or keywords.

"Classic search" is a good option when searching for known items. It allows keyword searching as well as Boolean ("and, or, not") searches to combine search terms in different ways. The classic search interface also includes a shortcut to search for new acquisitions and lets library patrons log in to see their account activity and save searches.
