New at the Pike County Public Library: Reading Dragons!

Do you like trading cards? Do you love books like dragons love gold? Then you need to join our new Reading Dragons program at Pike County Public Library!

How it works?
*For patrons ages 5-18
*Stop by either branch of the Pike County Public Library to pick up a reading tracker and starter cards.
*Use your tracker to keep tabs on your reading and earn a family of dragon cards for every 2 hours spent reading.

We are pleased to announce our Fourth Annual Charity Golf Outing on Monday, June 16th, 2025 at the exclusive Lords Valley Country Club in Hemlock Farms, Lords Valley, PA. All proceeds from this event will support the programs and services of the Pike County Public Library and GAIT Equine Assisted Services. Prizes will be awarded for first place Foursome, as well as Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin for both men and women. Milford Chrysler, Dodge, & Jeep Auto Dealership has generously offered a NEW CAR for anyone that achieves a hole-in-one on a hole to be announced by LVCC. Tickets are available below or you can pay with check or cash at the Milford branch. If you’re interested in sponsoring the event, please email advisorycouncil@gaittrc.org. Libraries have the Power to move PA Forward

PA Forward is the Pennsylvania Library Association’s initiative to encourage all libraries to develop programs based on 5 essential literacies: Basic, Civic & Social, Financial, Health, and Information. Together these literacies are key to powering progress and elevating the quality of life in Pennsylvania. Fueling these five key areas of knowledge is essential to success.

In 2019, we officially started the process of becoming recognized as a Gold Star Library through the PA Forward program. The program celebrates the success of PA Forward libraries and their abilities to create new partnerships, develop broader community support, and ultimately establish influence and credibility as a unified, collective, powerful voice for the benefit of all libraries. We are excited to announce as of December 2024, the Pike County Public Library has maintained its goal for more than 4 years and continues to be a PA Forward Gold Star Library!

Pike County Public Library has supported these 5 literacies from the very beginning! We offer programs and services such as Story Time, information literacy classes, and technology workshops that are the backbone of PA Forward. This is an ongoing process that assures all of our programs and services are aligned with the 5 literacies. PCPL will continue to develop programs and promote resources for our community and strive to maintain Gold Star status here on out.
