How do I get a library card?
Library users must present a valid library card to check items out. All residents of Trimble County are eligible to register for a library card free of charge from the TCPL. This privilege extends to those residing in and/or employed in Trimble County. In addition, TCPL has reciprocal borrowing with Henry, Oldham, and Carroll Counties and with Jefferson County Indiana. TCPL may call these libraries to determine if the out-of-county resident is a library user in good standing. Other applicants may request a library card, which will be considered on an individual basis.
To register for a library card, the applicant must show proof of address. New library users are permitted limited materials at the time of registration (up to 5 Books and 1 Video) but will not have access to ILL materials during the first visit. Parents are required to sign a statement of responsibility for children under the age of 14.
Library cards expire every four years but can be renewed at no cost. Library cards that are not used in four years may be deleted from the system unless there is a fine on the account. Lost library cards can be replaced for a $1.00 fee.
Two policies are to be reviewed and agreed to by signing on the back of the application card: the Internet Access Policy and the Video/Dvd Policy.
