CIVIL WAR HISTORY April 2008 ![]() The Union Parish Library hosted a program through the Louisiana Endowment for Humanities entitled Battleground Louisiana which focused on Civil War History in Louisiana. A lobby display highlighted historical heirlooms from the Civil War era. CAT IN THE HAT DAY March 2008 ![]() Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Union Parish Library honors Theodor Geisel Seuss during National Read Across America! YOUTH ART MONTH March 2008 ![]() The library and bookmobile display accomplishments from local artists during the month of March. NATURE MONTH April 2008 ![]() ![]() Union Parish Library celebrates National Library Week with the theme of nature. Over 400 children attended programs at the library this week to learn about the animals and habitat of our "Big Backyard". MOTHER GOOSE ON THE LOOSE May 2008 ![]() Union Parish Library travels to each parish school to present a Mother Goose production to promote National Children's Literature Week. SURVIVE AND THRIVE: COMPUTERS FOR SENIORS OVER 55 May 2008 ![]() Louisiana Tech Faculty John Swart presented a three week course on Learning Basic Computer Skills for over 25 Senior Adults. GET CAUGHT READING May 2008 ![]() During May, Union Parish Library hosted a photo contest to promote reading in Union Parish and allowed patrons to select their favorite photo! The winning photo above was taken of students at Spearsville Elementary spelling the word READ. The school will receive a box of free books for their teacher's classrooms. BE A STAR-READING June 2008 Over 100 children participated in the Summer Reading program. In additional to reading books, children participated in weekly activities featuring "stars" with various talents. |
