Saying Goodbye to the Library Building

We Have Moved . . .

The library will no longer be housed in the round (Pizza Hut) building.

The library began with plans to build a community center in Sells. The project and site approved by the Sells District Council was to include aside from the library, a lecture hall, an audio lab, and a courtesy room. On January 24, 1978 the community center (Education Building) had the ground breaking ceremony, and in 1981 the library was named after O'odham philosopher and historian Venito Garcia. We at the Venito Garcia Library encourage you to learn more of the legacy of Venito Garcia and invite you to share your memories and stories of the building on our Facebook page (link to the left). Thank you for your patience while we mourn and navigate all the changes coming.
