Warren County Library Summer Reading Program

Fizz, Boom, Read!

Readers of all ages are invited to have a blast this summer as all branches of the Warren County Library present “Fizz, Boom, Read!”  for children age 3 and up.  The 2014 summer reading program includes something for everyone infant through adult.   We will also have a “Little Explorers Club” for infants and toddlers through age 2 and a “Spark a Reaction” reading club for teens.  Adults are invited to explore “Literary Elements.”

Although the summer reading program is designed to be fun, it also has a practical side.  Studies have shown that children who read over the summer vacation not only prevent loss of reading skills while not in school but actually improve so that they enter school in September reading at a higher level, which may lead to overall increased academic performance.    And of course, there is no assigned reading so kids are free to read books that meet their interests.

In addition to reading books to earn prizes, participants will have the opportunity to attend other activities planned at the library.  These will include a wide variety of programs both fun and educational, hands-on workshops, crafts, storytime, and much more!  Music, magic shows, animals, contests, and prize drawings will all be part of the fun.  All programs are free of charge.

Registration begins June 23.  The program continues through August 16.  The complete list of programs will be available on the library web site, www.warrenlib.org.  We hope to see you at the library on June 23 and all summer long!  The summer reading program is sponsored by the Warren County Library and is supported by the Friends of the Warren County Library.
