The White House Library will be having a Food for Fines event on April 14th through the 21st to celebrate National Library week. One non-perishable food item will replace one dollar in fines. Patrons must bring return any and all overdue items before the food will go to replace a fine. Goods that are expired, dented, or missing labels will not be accepted in exchange for fines. Food items cannot be brought in to replace a non-resident fee. Food items will only be accepted during the date listed above.
TEEN TECH WEEK @ the Library
March 10-11, & 13 beginning @ 5:30 p.m.
Forget pen & paper note taking and use the computer instead! Learn how to use Microsoft OneNote for note taking in high school, college, or anywhere you need to take notes. Laptops will be set up for trying out OneNote.
Put on your dancing shoes & get ready to break a sweat to a variety of current and past hits! Dance your heart out to the Wii Just Dance games and see who’s got the moves like Jagger! Snacks & drinks will be provided.
Who will survive the longest when you and others twist to match the shapes? Strike a pose as you play Twister Mania on XBOX Kinect! Snacks & drinks will be provided.
Homeschool Group March, April & May 2014
Thursday, March 6th
We’ve been doing a lot these past few months, so we’re going to take it down a notch and have some fun! Today will be game day! Make sure to wear some comfy clothes and shoes and bring some water as we’ll be doing some moving around. We’ll play Just Dance on the Wii!
Thursday, March 20th
Today, we’ll be doing some springtime projects. We’re going to make a bird bath & bird feeders. Make sure to wear clothes that you can get dirty in case one of the projects becomes messy. The bird bath and bird feeders will be placed outside of the library to attract smaller birds!
Thursday, April 3rd
Next week is Money Smart week at the library. We will make a “Parts of a Dollar” book and a coin book. Then we will play “money memory.” At the end, kids will be given a count by coins coloring sheet.
Thursday, May 1st
In honor of Mother’s Day, we’ll decorate plastic pots using Sharpies. Kids will get a petunia to plant in their pot once they are done decorating it. Afterwards, we will plant flowers outside of the library. Please make sure to wear clothes that can get dirty. If you would like to bring gloves to wear when we plant outside, you may.
Thursday, May 15th
This will be our last homeschool group for this school year. We’re going to celebrate the end of the school year by having a game day. This time around, we will play a board game instead of video games. Stay tuned for more information on what game(s) we will play!
Library Happenings in April & May
Food for Fines will occur Monday, April 14th, through Monday, April 21st. The library will be closed Thursday, April 17th, for Good Friday. We will be open at our regular time, Saturday, April 19th. The library will be closed Monday, May 26th, in honor of Memorial Day. We will be open at our regular time, Tuesday, May 27th.

Toddler Tuesday, March 4th
We’re celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday! We’ll read Green Eggs and Ham & Hop on Pop. For our craft, kids will get to paste pictures into their own “Sam I am!” books.
Preschool Wednesday, March 5th
We’re celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday! We’ll read Green Eggs and Ham & One Fish, Two Fish,Red Fish, Blue Fish. For our craft, kids will get to draw pictures and fill in the blanks in their own “Sam I am!” book.
Toddler Tuesday, March 11th
Shapes are all around us! We will read I Spy Shapes in Art & Mouse Shapes. Instead of a craft, we will play a game of I Spy looking for different shapes!.
Preschool Wednesday, March 12th
We’re going to have some fun with the alphabet this week! After reading Nascar ABCs & LMNO peas, kids will get to finger paint the letters of the alphabet on finger paint paper. At the end, a letter coloring page will be given out to take home!.
Toddler Tuesday, March 18th
We will read Big Red Barn and see what animals live on a farm. Then, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we will make handprint 3-leaf clovers using green paint and construction paper.
Preschool Wednesday, March 19th
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we’re going to read The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day. We will make handprint 4-leaf clovers using green paint and construction paper. Kids will get a St. Patrick’s Day coloring sheet to take home at the end!
Toddler Tuesday, March 25th
We’re going to learn about the days of the week. We’ll read Dinosaur Days and Cookie’s Week. There will not be a craft/activity this week. At the end of story time, kids will get a “days of the week” coloring sheet
