Homeschool Group February 2014
The 411 on Homeschool Group for Parents/Guardians
• Homeschool Group will meet the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month at 2:00.
• We’ll try to do a craft or some activity each time we meet.
• I’ll also try to make sure that the craft/activity relates to the Common Core Standards or TN State
Thursday, February 6th
Using what you learned about the famous African-American you chose at our last meeting, you will create a picture of an event from that person’s life using construction paper and crayons. These will be put together to create a Black History quilt that will be displayed in the library for Black History month. Bring your picture of either your favorite scene from your book talk book or new cover for that book today. You’ll show your picture to the group & tell what it is of. Make sure to sign your artwork in the bottom left or right corner & afterwards, they will be displayed in the library.
Thursday, February 20th
We’re going to learn a little about Presidents’ Day & the White House since Monday was Presidents’ Day! We’ll make patriotic wind socks using thin cardboard, paint, glue, and party streamers.
Think about what the White House may look like in the future, 20 or more years from now. Do you think it’ll look different or the same; bigger or smaller? Would robots take place of human guards? Let your imagination run wild & draw a picture of what you think it may look like in the future. Bring your drawing to our next meeting, March 6th. Be prepared to show your drawing & remember to write your name on the back of it.
