The Library will be closed Thursday, April 17th for Easter.
The White House Library will be having a Food for Fines event on April 14th through the 21st to celebrate National Library week. One non-perishable food item will replace one dollar in fines. Patrons must bring return any and all overdue items before the food will go to replace a fine. Goods that are expired, dented, or missing labels will not be accepted in exchange for fines. Food items cannot be brought in to replace a non-resident fee. Food items will only be accepted during the date listed above.

Homeschool Group April & May 2014
Thursday, April 3rd
Next week is Money Smart week at the library. We will make a “Parts of a Dollar” book and a coin book. Then we will play “money memory.” At the end, kids will be given a count by coins coloring sheet.
Thursday, May 1st
In honor of Mother’s Day, we’ll decorate plastic pots using Sharpies. Kids will get a petunia to plant in their pot once they are done decorating it. Afterwards, we will plant flowers outside of the library. Please make sure to wear clothes that can get dirty. If you would like to bring gloves to wear when we plant outside, you may.
Thursday, May 15th
This will be our last homeschool group for this school year. We’re going to celebrate the end of the school year by having a game day. This time around, we will play a board game instead of video games. Stay tuned for more information on what game(s) we will play!
Library Happenings in April & May
Food for Fines will occur Monday, April 14th, through Monday, April 21st. The library will be closed Thursday, April 17th, for Good Friday. We will be open at our regular time, Saturday, April 19th. The library will be closed Monday, May 26th, in honor of Memorial Day. We will be open at our regular time, Tuesday, May 27th.

Happy April Fools’ Day! We’ll read April Foolishness and Ten Little Fish. For our craft, kids will get to color a fish in honor of how April Fools’ Day is celebrated in France.

We’re celebrating April Fools’ Day a day late! We’ll read Arthur’s April Fool and Ten Little Fish. For our craft, kids will get to color a fish in honor of how April Fools’ Day is celebrated in France.
Toddler Tuesday, April 8th
This week is Money Smart Week at the library! We’ll read Just Saving My Money by Mercer Mayer & Benny’s Pennies by Pat Brisson. For our activity, we will practice our counting skills by counting pennies.
Preschool Wednesday, April 9th
This week is Money Smart week at the library! We’ll read The Berenstain Bears’ Trouble with Money & Just Saving My Money. For our activity, we’ll name and sort coins.
Toddler Tuesday, April 15th
Easter is this weekend! We’ll read I Need an Easter Egg! & Peter Cottontail. For our activity, we will have an Easter egg hunt outside! Should there be bad weather, we will yarn paint construction paper Easter eggs.

Happy Earth day! To celebrate Earth, we’ll read The Earth Book and The Berenstain Bears Go Green. Kids will make an Earth Day painting using green, white, and blue tempera paint & a white construction paper circle.
Preschool Wednesday, April 23rd
Yesterday was Earth Day! To celebrate Earth, we’ll read Arthur Turns Green and The Berenstain Bears Go Green. For our activity, the kids will practice recycling materials by placing them into their appropriate bins. Kids will be given an Earth Day coloring page.
*For safety reasons, glass will not be included in the activity.
Toddler Tuesday, April 29th
This month has been Pets are Wonderful month. We’ll read The Best Pet of All and What Pet to Get?! Instead of a craft, we will watch a short clip of Sesame Street: The Best Pet in the World featuring Zoe, Telly, Elmo, & Baby Bear!
Preschool Wednesday, April 30th
Today is Honesty Day. We’ll read Birds of a Feather, featuring Disney’s Princess Jasmine, and Edwurd Fudwupper Fibbed Big. Kids will watch part of an episode of “The Big Comfy Couch” on honesty instead of doing a craft.
