How do I get a card?  How many items can I check out and for how long?  Click here to see our circulation policies.

I don't have my card, can you lookup my number?  Yes, with a valid picture ID we can look up your card number a maximum of five times.

Do you have e-books? Currently, we have access to e-books through NCLIVE and 3m.

Can I rent a digital projector?  The library has a digital projector for use by meetings on library premises, but we do not have one that can be checked out for use outside the library.  A digital projector may be rented locally at Advantage Rentals, 252-291-9600.



Adult Services

Can I fax? Yes.  Although the public cannot receive faxes they may send faxes for $1.50 for the first page and $.25 for each additional page.

Can I make photo copies?  Yes.  We have two public photocopiers that charge .$15 per copy.

Can I print?  Patrons may print from one of our public computer stations for $.20 per black and white page and $.50 for each color page.

How long can I use the computers? You are guaranteed up to 90 minutes a day depending upon availability.

Do you process passport applications?  Passport applications are handled by the main Post Office at 501 Mercer St, 252-237-4161.

Do you have a notary?  Yes.  Please call ahead to be sure she will be available when you come.

May I hold an event on the library lawn?  The library lawn is a city park, and its use falls under the Parks and Recreation Department.  They can be contacted at 252-399-2261.


Young Adult

How old do you need to be to use the internet unsupervised? Teens 13 and older can use the internet unsupervised.

Do you have books for teens/young adults?  We have a Young Adult Collection located just past the Circulation Desk. 

Do you have Manga or Graphic Novels?  Yes.  We have a graphic novel collection located near our YA collection that contains both Manga and graphic novels.




Can children use the Internet? Yes, the computers in the Children’s Department are for use by patrons 12 and under. Children with a card in good standing who are supervised by their parent or a card holder with Internet status may ask a librarian to access the Internet.

Where are the “Captain Underpants” and “Diary of Wimpy Kid” books? Books that are in high demand like these series are kept by the desk in the Children’s Department.  Patrons are asked to take one from each series at a time to encourage sharing.

How do we get on the touch screen computers?  Ask your Children’s Librarian and offer your library card.  We will check your card to make certain it is in good standing and put the password in for your session.

Where is your card catalog? The two computers by the entrance to the children’s area will give you access to our catalog.  You may also check it with any device which connects you to the Internet.

Do you have a restroom? Yes, two are available. The Children’s Department has two restrooms on either side of the doorway.

Do you have programs for children? Yes we do, and they are all free. Current programs are advertised on our website as well as on flyers and handouts in the library.  Please ask us if you need help locating this information.

What should I bring to the library?   Bring your library card, money for printed copies, and your assignments with you.  Glue, paints, glitter, and other messy project supplies should be kept at home.

Does the library provide supplies?  You can find scrap paper to use and pencils and pens to borrow on the librarians’ desk.  School, office, and art supplies are not available unless there is a library program which requires them.

Do you have a quiet place for me to work or hold a meeting?  We have two tutor rooms which are available (first come- first served) upon request. Two or three people can use each room at a time.
