Automatic Renewals

You’re busy and we know it. Let’s make “to-do” lists easier with Automatic Renewals at the Library!

Automatic Renewal:
Beginning on May 19th, 2025, eligible materials will automatically renew!
Patrons whose email is on file will receive an email notice stating the new due date for their automatically renewed items.
You can also find this information by logging into your account on our website, www.librarybythelake.org. If you do not want your items to automatically renew, simply return them!

What is automatic renewal?

As of May 19th, 2025 you will no longer have to remember to renew any books, audiobooks, magazines, DVD’s, CD’s or other physical items borrowed from the St. Joseph/ Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library. If the item is eligible to be renewed, it will be automatically renewed for you!

What items do not automatically renew?

• Items with a hold or request from another person waiting for the item
• Digital items, such as eBooks
• Interlibrary Loan (ILL) / MeL items
• Accounts blocked with fines or fees in excess of $10.00

What if I don’t want my items automatically renewed – can I opt out?

No. There is no way to opt out of this system-wide feature. If you don’t want to keep your items past the original due date, you can just return them as you usually would.

If an item did not automatically renew and I don’t return it on time, are there still fines?

Yes, materials not returned on their due date will accrue fines of $0.20/ day until returned.

Will I get a notice that items have been renewed?

Yes, if you have opted in to receive email notifications, you will receive a courtesy renewal notice via the email registered to your library account. Check your email for messages from redarrow@tlcdelivers.com.

Can I still manually renew materials whenever I want?

What if I don’t have email?
