How do I put a reserve or hold on a book?

The easiest way to place a hold or reserve a book is to call any branch library or ask library staff to place your request in person at the Front Desk during a visit to the library.

How to place a hold online:

  1. Access our catalog online here at www.FunInPutnam.com.
  2. Search by title, author, or subject in the search bar in the upper right hand corner of the website. You'll then be taken to our dedicated online catalog.
  3. Or travel directly there by going to http://170.249.166.60:8080/. But www.FunInPutnam.com is easier to remember!
  4. When you find a title you'd like to check out, click on the "Place Hold" button. You'll then be prompted to log in.
  5. You can also click on the "Log In" button in the upper right hand corner of the catalog screen. From there, you can view your check outs, holds, fines, etc.
  6. To log in to your account, you will need your library card number (found on the back of your card under the barcode) and PIN. If you've never logged in before, you may not have a PIN set up. You can set a four-digit PIN number by calling the library. You can always change the PIN later (after you log in) or set up an "EZ Username" and "EZ Password" that only you know.
  7. As long as your card is "active" and hasn't expired, you should have no trouble placing a hold. If you are having trouble, please give us a call or stop by. We may need to updates your card.
  8. When your hold is available, we'll give you a call. Please make sure we have your updated phone number on file.
