Your Library Card
Who can get a library card, how to apply, and how to use your library card.
The Stacyville Public Library operates as a free service to the
citizens of Stacyville and Mitchell County. Services are available free
to residents of Iowa through the Open Access program. If you are a
resident of Minnesota or another state, you are welcome to apply for a
library card with us for a minimal yearly fee.
- To apply for a library card, please apply in person at the
circulation desk. Persons age 14 or older requesting a library card
shall present a driver's license or other picture ID. Persons age 13 or
younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with identification
when applying for a library card. New patrons shall be allowed to check
out a maximum of 2 items at a time for a probationary period of 3
months.
- Your library card entitles you to check out books and other materials from the library. Books, magazines and puzzles are checked out for a two-week period. We do not charge fines for overdue books, but do charge for materials that are lost or destroyed. DVDs are checked out for one day and there is a fine of $1 per day for overdue movies. Patrons must pay any fines before they are allowed to check out more materials.
- You may renew, reserve or request materials by phone, at the circulation desk or online by logging on to your account.
