| Our childrens librarian's makes it fun for pre-schoolers
to learn with inventive programs throughout the year. Stories,
songs, fingerplays, puppets, crafts, felt board activities and
more, help begin the life-long learning process for 3 through
5 year olds. |

 The Theme for Summer 2014: "Fizz Boom Read!" for children and "Spark a Reaction!" for teen
"Fizz Boom Read!" is this years Summer Reading Program at the Oak Hill Public Library. Readers of all ages will explore all types of Science as the Oak Hill Public Library presents "Fizz Boom Read!" during their summer reading program. Activities may include programs on Science, What's on your Plate?, Smart Art, 30 Wonderous Weather Techno-Time, Parts, Robots, and more. A combined Carnival will be held for the final program for all that participated in the Summer Reading Program.
The 2014 Summer Reading Program is open to all young people, preschool through high school seniors, with programs, prize drawing, story hours and more. Registration for "Fizz Boom Read!" will be held on Friday, June 6th at 1:00 p.m. with an appearance from Ronald McDonald. Summer Reading will run throughout June and July with children ages 3-5 years old held on Mondays at 1:00 p.m. and ages 6-10 years old held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The goals for summer reading are to motivate children
to read, develop positive attitudes about reading and
books, enable children to maintain their reading skills
during summer vacation, encourage regular library use,
attract new users to the library, and offer experiences
through which children can learn to work cooperatively. |

| Fun with counting, spelling, math, geography and
other educational topics is available through games on computers
for children from the very young through teenage. Toys, crayons,
markers, colored pencils, color sheets and games are also provided
for use in the library. |

| The library holds many titles of award winning
books such as Newbery, Caldecott, Coretta Scott King and others. |

| Library tours for pre-school and elementary school
groups or other groups such as scouts, 4-H Clubs, etc. can be
arranged by calling the library. The children's librarian will
also read to visiting groups or make school visits to read to
classes at request from teachers. |

| The organization of a teen
advisory board, Keep Educating Youth (KEY), for the library
has been an exciting and rewarding project. The enthusiastic
members help with year-round library programs and encourage
library use by the community. Some of the programs are
Valentine Making, a Poetry Cafe (for the teen board),
a Poetry Celebration for the community, Pumpkin Painting,
the Fall fun hour, and Christmas caroling. As they
help, each member accumulates points for rewards such
as pins, shirts, w/KEY logo, books, and more. Community
service hours can be earned for helping with these library
programs.

| A Fall Fun Hour is held each October during
which the Library is filled with strange and fantastic characters
who hear eerie tales, play games, win prizes, watch
skits, and have a "fear-full" good time. |
