Library Cards
Adults and children age 6 and above who live in Gillespie County can obtain a library card at no charge. All children must have their card signed by a parent or guardian when filling out card application. Visitors to Gillespie County who stay for 3 months or longer may enjoy library privileges after paying a $5.00 fee. Non-residents of Gillespie County (residents of Blanco, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, and Mason) can obtain a card for a $5.00 fee. Each cardholder assumes full responsibility for the return of all material borrowed and for all fines incurred on his card. Please report changes of name and/or address promptly.
Required Information to Obtain a Library Card
Anyone wanting to obtain a library card must provide a current government issued ID with a correct mailing address on it. If the ID does not have the correct mailing address, one of the following can be accepted along with the photo ID: voters registration card, tax record from Appraisal District, utlitiy bills, or car/homeowner insurance card. These may be accepted in eform.
Checkout and Return
The Circulation Desk on the first floor serves as the check out and return desk for all library material. The date on which your book is due is printed on a receipt given at checkout. A reasonable number of books may be checked out for two weeks. Should you wish to keep a book longer, please call us or you may go online to renew.
Renewals
If the book has not been requested by another reader, we will renew it for an additional two weeks only.
Reserves
If the book you want is not on the shelf, we can reserve it for you and call you when it comes in.
Interlibrary Loan
If the particular book you want is not in our collection, we may be able to get it for you through interlibrary loan. There is a postage charge of 75 cents for this service.
Overdues
There is a charge of 5 cents per day on overdue books.
DVD Policy
DVDs may be checked out for a period of one week. Any DVDs turned in late will have a fine of $1.00 a day per DVD.
