Adult Services
Adult fiction and non-fiction books, books on CD, large print books, reference material, the Texas collection, magazines, and newspapers are located on the second floor. Current periodicals, covering a wide range of subjects, are available for reading in the Library and for home use. All but the latest issues are circulated. The Library subscribes to the Wall Street Journal and the Fredericksburg Standard Radio-Post. The Library holds back issues of the Fredericksburg papers on microfilm back to 1890.
Children's Services
Children's books can be found in the young people's room on the first floor. Picture books, easy readers, fiction and nonfiction for older children are available. A story hour is offered for preschool and kindergarten children during the school year. The Library participates in the Summer Reading Program sponsored by the Friends of Pioneer Memorial Library. Reading certificates are presented to those who complete the program.
Computer Usage Policy
Computers are available to use at the library. To use a computer you must either have a library card or obtain a guest pass at the circulation desk. To get a guest pass, we require a photo ID to be presented. You may print from the computers for a fee of 15 cents per page in black and white only.
Materials for the Visually Impaired
The Library offers large print materials and books on CD. In addition, the Texas State Library offers books on tape and magazines through the mail free of charge. Ask the Librarian for details.
Books as Memorials
Books are lasting memorials to loved ones. You may make a donation at the library for a memorial. We will write a note to the relatives of the person in whose memory you have made this gift. Each memorial is inscribed with the name of the person honored. Gift books honoring birthdays or anniversaries may also be arranged.
Special Services
A copy machine and a microfilm machine are available to use at the library. Ask a Library staff member for details.
