Ware Shoals Library was first established in 1913.  The branch was housed in several locations including Katherine Hall, the First Methodist Church and the house that is now the Senior Center.  In 1999, the new library was built.  The Ware Shoals Community Library is very unique, not only are we a public library, but also a high school library with two circulation systems.

The Ware Shoals Community Library has computers, photocopier/printers and Wi-Fi. The Library offers programs for children, teens, and adults. Program descriptions can be found below.

Summer Reading Kickoff: Kona Ice

Age Group: All Ages (Children, Teen, and Adult)

When: Tuesday, June 4: Beginning at 5:30 PM

About: Kick off Summer Reading with Kona Ice of Greenwood at the Ware Shoals Branch. Stop by to get one free snowcone per person before they're gone!

Family Movie Adventure: Disney's Up (PG)

Age Group: Children, Teens, and Adults

When:Tuesday, June 18: 5:00-7:00 PM

About: Longing to wander the wilds of South America, 78-year-old balloon salesman, Carl Fredericksen, ties thousands of balloons to his home and up, up, and away he goes. However, this solitary adventure isn't what he'd envisioned when he finds 8-year-old Russell, a wilderness scout, who stowed away. South America is beautiful, but there are hidden dangers at every turn and Carl and Russell must work together to get out of this adventure!

Camping is so much fun! Get ready for your camping adventures by making your very own campsite craft that lets you go from sunny days to starry nights with just a turn.

High, high, high in the sky, it's a plane! There are big planes and small planes. They come in so many colors and kinds. Color your airplane and let your imagination fly!

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming --  until you get to the Library. Create and decorate your fishy friend.

Upstate Children's Museum - "Wind Tunnel Engineering"

Age Group: Children (Grades 1st-5th)

When: Wednesday, June 12: 11:00AM -12:00PM

About:

Participants will work on their problem solving skills to design an object created from recycled materials that will hover in a windtunnel. - Description from TCMU

There will also be a showing at the Greenwood Library.

Adventures in Fishing: A Two Day Program

Age Group: Children (Birth-5th Grade)

When and What: Come join us for some fishing crafts and games over the next two days. While supplies last.

 Wednesday, June 19: 10:30AM - 12:00PM: 

DIY Fishing Rod: We want to mosey down to the fishing hole, but we don't have fishing rods, oh no! Don't fret, we can make our own.

Thursday, June 20: 11:00AM - 12:00PM: Grab a pole and let's go! Hidden in the schools of fish are special catches that'll reel in prizes. What are you waiting for? Let's cast a line!

 

Ed's Dinosaurs Live

Age Group: Children (Birth-5th Grade)

When:  Wednesday, July 10: 11:00AM - 12:00PM

About:

Ed's Dinosaurs Live has a mission: To bring the dinosaurs that we love so much to everyone! Step back in time to when the dinosaurs ruled the world as the Library gets a visit from some special prehistoric guests.

There will also be a showing at the Greenwood Library.

I Dig Dinosaurs

Age Group: Children (Birth-5th Grade)

When: Thursday, July 11: 10:00AM -11:00AM

About: Haven't you heard? They found dinosaur bones near the Library! We will carefully unearth these ancient fossils in search of the mysterious Wareshoalius Rex!

Open the Underwood Cellars Case File. It's been 20 years since famed Napa winemaker Cary Underwood was last seen. After a recent earthquake, Underwood's murder was uncovered. The adventure and investigation is now underway. Work together to solve this murder mystery.
