The Greenwood County Library offers different types of programs for adults that include Book Discussions, Speakers, Crafts, and other enrichment opportunities. All adults, 18 and over, are invited. Some programs require registration and may have a limited capacity as materials need to be purchased. View our programs below for full details.

Attracting Butterflies with SC Native Plants

Introvert Happy Hour

Calling all introverts: spend a stress-free hour with us in the American Veterans Auditorium coloring or silently reading for an hour. No pressure to make small talk! Just a time to relax and get lost in a good book or a coloring page. Light refreshments, coloring pages, and coloring pencils will be provided. You may also bring your own coloring supplies and your own books (if reading).

Start off the summer with an epic Foam Party on the Library's lawn! Play in the microbubble foam while dancing to music.

Foamtastic Adventures uses highest quality solution for our foam. It’s bio-degradable, non-staining, non-toxic and hypoallergenic! It’s also safe for babies, little old ladies, the environment, and lawns. Depending on the individual enthusiasm level, participants will range from dry to damp to soaking wet (we recommend you bring a towel).
This is program is not just for kids! Foam is the perfect activity for all ages and total inclusiveness. It’s also a perfect sensory-friendly activity.

Bad Weather: Foam and rain don’t mix well. If the weather looks like it will not cooperate, the Library will cancel the program and notify patrons on our social media outlets and website.

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed

Join us as we discuss the memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed. Four years after her mother's death and the destruction of her marriage, Cheryl Strayed impulsively decided to hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—and she would do it alone. She had no training or experience, and felt she had nothing more to lose. The difficult journey would madden, strengthen, and ultimately heal her.

Summer Movie Afternoon: Jungle Cruise

Join us for a showing of the adventure film, Jungle Cruise (rated PG-13). The 2021 film, tells the story of the captain of a small riverboat (Dwayne Johnson) who takes a scientist (Emily Blunt) and her brother through the jungle in search of the Tree of Life, while competing against a German expedition and cursed conquistadors.

Drinks and popcorn will be provided at this showing.

Adult Craft: Nature-Printing Tote Bag Workshop

Dog Day with the Humane Society of Greenwood County

Ages: Children, Teens, and Adult

Celebrate with us on National Dog Day, which encourages dog ownership of all breeds. The Human Society will have a variety of dogs available for adoption. In addition, the Library will have a dog-themed storytime, crafts, and a prize giveaway.
