Donating Books to the Library
Can I donate books and materials to the library?
The library accepts donations of recent books, recorded books, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs. Donations should be clean and in good condition. See guidelines listed below.
When can I donate materials?
Donations can be made at the library during our regular business hours. Please be aware that library staff may not be available to help unload a donation.
Where can I donate materials?
The Friends of the Library have a collection box in the lobby for donations.
If you have a very large donation (Multiple large boxes) please stop at the main circulation desk at the library. Staff may direct you to place large donations in another area of the library.
What happens to donated materials?
The library reviews donated materials and adds suitable materials to the library's collection. Remaining books and materials go to the Friends of the Library for their annual book sale to raise funds to support the library. Once accepted, donations are property of the Library and cannot be returned to the donor.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Donations may be tax deductible on your federal taxes. Please check with your tax advisor. Please ask for a tax receipt at the time of your donation. Library staff cannot assign a dollar amount to your donation, and you are responsible for assessing the value of the donation. Tax receipts are not given for items placed into the Friends of the Library collection box located in the lobby.
