About Us

The mission of the Putnam County Public Library is to provide access to the online world, help create young readers, stimulate people’s imagination, provide safe and comfortable real and virtual places to visit, and help citizens stay informed.

Vision statement: We are dedicated to helping patrons of all ages pursue their educational, informational, recreational, and cultural interests in a way that is meaningful to them.

Established in 1930, The Putnam County Library System has grown to serve a diverse community of more than 70,000 people, providing materials, information, programs, exhibitions, services and educational opportunities in a wide variety of formats. With five locations, PCLS is a hub for community activity in Putnam County providing access to information, education and technology.  Additionally, library programs and services are offered to the public with little or no cost so they may be accessible to anyone and everyone in the community.

The Headquarters of the Putnam County Library System is located in Palatka. We have four branches in Bostwick, Crescent City, Interlachen, and Melrose. For locations and operating hours, visit our directory. Each branch of the Putnam County Library System offers a positive and encouraging environment for the public.
