ONLINE DATABASES:

The library provides access to a number of databases available online from any computer with Internet access. Some of the databases are subscription databases, which means that the library pays an annual fee for access.

1. E-books:
E-books are made available from the Texas State Library through TexShare Databases and require a username and password. You must be a registered Kleberg Library patron with a valid library card in order to this service. To use the service from home or work, please call the Reference Desk at (361) 592-6381 during regular business hours for the login and password.

2. TexShare or Texas State Library Databases
Through the Texas State Library, The Robert J. Kleberg Public Library library patrons have unlimited access to online encyclopedias and full text access to professional and academic journals, newspapers, and magazines through more than 50 reputable databases. These databases provide accurate, authoritative, and commercial-free resources. To use the databases from home or work, please call the Reference Desk at (361) 592-6381 during regular business hours for the login and password.

FREE WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS IN THE LIBRARY:
You are invited to use the library's free Wireless Internet access using your own wireless-enabled laptop. Free Wi-Fi access is provided in throughout the library during regular library hours. You will need a Wi-Fi device installed in your laptop or a laptop with a built-in Wi-Fi capability. If you would like to know more about this service, please stop by the library and pick up an information sheet, or call the Library at (361) 592-6381. Wireless printing is available, and you are welcome to print from your Wi-Fi Laptop, Jump Drive or any other removable storage device.

BASIC INFORMATION:
The Robert J. Kleberg Public Library is proud to announce that the Library is a Wi-Fi hotspot, providing unlimited free high-speed Internet connectivity using standard wireless technology. Access extends throughout the building.

You are invited to use this free service by bringing your own notebook computer or other wireless device to the Robert J. Kleberg Public Library. Please note that as this is a free service. The Library cannot guarantee the compatibility of your wireless equipment.

The Library's public wireless network is not secure. Data transmitted to or from all wireless devices connected to this network is sent in the clear and could be intercepted by third parties using commonly available software. Do not use this network to transfer sensitive personal data such as usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, social security numbers, etc. The Robert J. Kleberg Public Library strongly recommends that all devices connected to the public wireless network be configured with active, up-to-date antivirus and personal firewall software.
