The Charlotte Reeves Robertson Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution are pleased to announce the publication "Legacies of Our Great Grand Mothers: Early Tennessee Women" is now available in the James Bailey Museum here, at the Portland Public Library of Sumner County.

This two-volume set highlights the contributions of early Tennessee women in the settling of our frontier state, the development of our communities, and the molding of strong families. Within its more than thirteen hundred pages, readers will find the stories of wealthy pioneer families and subsistent farming families; families who first resided in the State of Franklin and those who traveled with the Robertson and Donelson expeditions; and families who helped mold the future of Tennessee prior to 1850.

With 265 family biographical sketches, which are footnoted, verified and documented with sources, the Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution, under the leadership of TSDAR State Regent, Susan Rogers Thomas, has compiled and created a true legacy for current and future genealogies.
